Yea, I moved out of state and was away from site for awhile and came back to see it's all where I left off. Nothing about captains is updated, we have new captains on some of these boats and they're no where mentioned on this site. Guess I won't be coming back, only came on to find out about one captain that I don't see mentioned on the Deadliest Catch Discovery web page.

I have a message for your "deckhand" ******** Huggins! I was watching his interview on Deadliest Catch season 1, and his ignorant view on unions need correcting. He stated negatively about "union coffee breaks" and lead it to believe that unions are misguided. IF this is how he truly feels about unions, then HE himself needs to be re-guided. Please let him know that I would love to help him be re-directed.

"Ah the good old shows indeed. Yea the new remake of "Night Stalker" WAS pretty lame. I loved Darrin McGavin and Simon Oakland. Poor Simon always had a burning stomach!!!!! Does anyone remember "Simon's Sanctorum"? The host was a maniacal looking man named Simon who hosted a horror movie each week. He was always talking to spiders and calling them beloved, or diving into a bubbling pot of slime or something. Good show.
Scooby Doo is still a fave. Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, Brady Bunch."
I just found a video 0 f the now deceased Gary Newton, who played Simon on YouTube

I have been trying to find a way to send a message to the Captain from the TV show 'The Deadliest Catch' named Peter Liske. I just have to tell him that his faith, prayers, and love of his crew brought such tears to my eyes. Peter Liske is truly a hero and mentor of mine. Without any hesitation, he is one of the most sincerely holy men I have ever witnessed and my family is very thankful for his existence.
Much Love in the Name of Jesus,

Hey guys, I have a question about the share. For example, on tonights show April 26th 2011 on the Cornelia Marie they were discussing the share of Jake and his brother. Each get 12.5 percent from what they said, and on the paper they had a break down. 515,000 lbs made 570,000. Minus 70 percent to boat?? I don't understand that. How many owners are there on the Cornelia Marie and how do they get paid. Are the expense like fuel, bait, and food included in that or is it taken out after the 70 percent? Then the crew shares are taken out. I just am confused how each, the owners all shares including Jake and brother, the skipper, and Crew make money. Some insight would be great. Also is it basically all the same for the boats on deadliest catch? Thank you in advance.

OK, here is the progression of money once it goes through the purser dock side: Bills (fuel, bait, licenses, docking fees, repairs, etc), then owner, Captain and crew. What the Captain makes is dependent on the contract made with the owner. What each deckhand makes is dependent on the contract with the Captain, usually. Deckhands usually make about 5%, engineers a percentage or two more. And Captains? I don't know honestly. I know the owner gets most of the pie though. So if you have a 5 man deck, that is 25% plus a few more for the engineer so 27% of all the net profits is taken with crew. Let's say Skipper gets 20%. That leaves more than 50% going to the owner.
If you have more than one owner, well it would depend on what they agreed upon. But in the case of the Cornelia Marie, it sounds like the boys get to split 25% of the 50% that the owners rake in on top of their deck wages. But I have wondered why they can't keep crew on there very long, besides the two of them fighting and the boat looking like she's in need of some major overhauls in the shipyard.

How come everytime a pot comes up to the rail, it has to be spun 180-degrees around the vertical before being lifted over the rail and locked down on the launcher?
It just seems like the bridle could be changed so that the pot came up "right side in". I'm sure there's a reason, but darned if I can figure it out.

RE: Pot Hauling/Rigging Question
By: Cloudsinmotion, Oct 26 2012, 6:57 AM EDT
It doesn't always come up backwards but often it does. The bridle is tied to the pots so that it will be angled right as it approaches the launcher. Once dogged down, the door would then open upwards so that they can flip it out of the way. If they allowed it to stay upside down, the door would open down and then getting the crab out would be much harder.

It does depend on how much the boat holds but I seem to remember like an 6-8 hour average per tank. Each boat usually has at least 3 tanks so... usually a long night's worth.

I hope that takes a hold on the fishing boat and start is on business with his father's legacy. After the catch season 2012 alluded to that and that Jake would be extra baggage if understood the last after the catch season 2012.

What ever happen to Jake's father? Was he found dead during a snow storm or do they really don't know what happen to him. It would be interesting to fine out, instead leaving every one hanging with out some can of information.. I am also interested in if Jake and Josh with the Cornea will return in the 2012 season?

Captain Derrick, you did a MOST TERRIBLE job to be polite. You also had the balls to say something to the affect that you did everything that you were paid to do... I think NOT, i think you were paid TO CATCH CRAB! I think they were hoping that you would be friendly & helpful in this transition period. You were extremely unfriendly, arrogant, condescending, rude & disrespectful to them. I believe Jake was right when he said you were using him as a scapegoat to deflect the MOST AWFUL,SAD, & MISERABLE job of catching crab. Also instead of CONDEMNING Jake & treating him like a loser criminal drug addict, you could have went the opposite route & tried to help him overcome his problem & help mentor both of them. I really think you are a MISERABLE,LOW LIFE, LOSER, with esteem problems & a total piece of S***! Also WHY did you call & notify the police & try to have Jake arrested??? That was INCREDIBLY SUPER UNCOOL!!! I totally DETEST YOU after that. Try helping him NOT ruining his life... You also can & are going to get HURT by SNITCHING like that. Most HEINOUS & TERRIBLE... What kind of LOSER A**H*** are you? These 2 put their faith, hope & livlihood in you & you FAILED THEM MISERABLY & went out of your way to F*** with them & essentially undermine & ruin them. To put it mildly, YOU are a most HEINOUS ANUS, LOWLIFE piece of S*** who will get some real BAD karma in the future! I HOPE you are NEVER on this show or seen again A**WIPE! You also said you WEREN'T going to SHARE your knowledge(of being a captain & crabfishing) with them... How NICE & HELPFUL of you, for these 2 brothers who had hoped you would help them learn & keep the Cornelia Maria going! How wonderful you are as a person nevermind friend. You TRULY should be TOTALLY ASHAMED of yourself, & move to North Korea or something... Thanks Derrick!
