"I don't really think you could call this an oldie, but it is a remake of an oldie. What did you ladies think of the NEW "Phantom of the Opera"? GAAAWWWD!! I loved it! I plan on buying the DVD when I get money ahead on my bills. (<:"I saw the play of Phantom of the Opera some years ago and was mesmerized by it!!!!!! Haven't seen the new one but heard it was goo. It does classify as an oldie coz it's a remake. Hee hee. Do you find this valuable? |

"I remember "Dark Shadows". My mom used to watch it when I was real little. I had a crush on Barnabus Collins and I thought Mrs.Stottard (Gloria??) looked like a man. Angelique scarred the pants off of me because she was a witch. There is an "oldie" TV station called KONG over here that shows stuff like that... Along with Partridge Family, Gilligans Island, The Wild, Wild West & The Flying Nun. It's a hoot watching that old stuff. Game Show network also has Let's Make A Deal on everyday, shot back in the 60's and early 70's. Seeing the way people dressed and the hair styles are a riot!! (<:"I have many of the Dark Shadows tapes, plus the one and only season of the new Dark Shadows starring Ben Cross. It was as good as the original and should have been given a chance. Mrs. Stoddard otherwise known as Elizabeth. Lara Parker did an excellent job as Angelique. Oh gawd Gilligan and the Skipper. Heh heh. Now: here's a question for you girls: The Skipper: Who does he most resemble personality wise of our DC Captains? Flying Nun was a goodie too. Let's Make a Deal. I actually met Jonathan Frid who played the original Barnabas Collins newbiegirl. He was very classy and low key and dignified. Hair, dress and makeup back then makes me cackle today. Platform shoes, bright eyeshadow that went into our eyebrows, polyester suits, loud gawdy dresses, sky high hairdos. Oh wait a minute: Those things are slowly makin their way back now if you think about it. It's been said that the styles and things of life will slowly revolve only to come back at some point. GAWWWWDDDDD!!!!!! Hiphuggers? EEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!!!!!! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Have you ever seen the original "Phantom of the Opera" with Lon Chaney, made back in 1925? I loved it. They kinda ruin some movies by turning non-musicals into musicals. That ruins it for me. How about the British series "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan?"OH MY GOD!!!!!!! Yes I have seen the ORIGINAL "Phantom of the Opera" with Lon Chaney "The Man of a Thousand Faces." Do you know why he was called this? And you're right. They do ruin some good old classic movies. Lon was sooooo scary in this movie and did his own makeup as he did on every movie he made. His son Lon Jr. also was adept at horror and makeup. He was actually adopted but was given the name Lon Chaney Jr. Just a bit of trivia for ya. Yup yup "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan AND "Secret Agent" with him too. Secret Agent Man Secret Agent Man you take away my number, and you take away my name. ROL!!!!!!!!! How about the British series "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan?"There have been remakes of POTO, and Claude Rains did an admirable job as well with this one. Robert Englund aka Freddy Krueger did one too did he not? Do you find this valuable? |

"Here's a Clark Gable film you may have not seen, but it is one of my favorites, even over GWTW. The movie is "Band of Angels" Sidney Poitier was in it also. I can't remember the name of the actress. but it was also about a rich land owner{Clark}, the deep South, Civil War, etc. Really an excellent movie. LOL, sajsam"Clark Gable, Yvonne DeCarlo aka Lily Munster, Efram Zimbalest Jr of the FBI fame, and Rex Reason were in "Band of Angels". How about "The Misfits" starring Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe, made shortly before her death? Do you find this valuable? |

GAWWWWDDDDD!!!!!! Hiphuggers? EEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!"Get this...When I was in 3rd grade, ti was made known to all in our school district that girls can now wear pants! REALLY!!! It wasn't even a private school! I made bell bottoms a big fad by being the first person to wear them. One week later half of the girls were wearing them. I had a bright red pair that I washed and wore until they fell apart. By then I was into bluejeans. (<: Do you find this valuable? |

Hey ! that rhymes...(<:"I had to jog my memory by researching a couple of the films, but for the most part yes I do have a gift at remembering the credits. I'll read em as the they roll when the movie is done. And I also can pretty much have total recall on oodles of actors and actresses, and their films. I even amaze my Mom who along with my Dad got me into watchin the oldies and classics. So if yer ever stymied about an actor or actress, just give me the name of the movie, and 9 chances outta 10 I'll be able to tell ya who it is. Faces in most cases????? Yer killin me. If I remember correctly I was allowed to wear jeans in 3rd grade, but my Mom always fought to get me into a dress from time to time. The one time I wanted to wear one she said no coz she thought it was too short. Funny about the red pair. HMMMMMMMMM Maybe you could get another pair of red pants for February. Think about this comment and get back to me. LOL Do you find this valuable? |

I grew up with the likes of Flip Wilson, Carol Burnett and Friends, Sonny and Cher. A favorite that I still like today is the Night Stalker starring Darin McGavin. They tried to remake it but I thought it was pretty lame. They were still showing the good Scooby Doo's when I was a kid (very late 60's/early 70's). Wide World of Sports with Howard Cosell. I guess I have tons of dusty stuff, that once RetroTV/TVLand really gets going I can always subject myself to again. It is a gas to see the different fashions and make-up styles that folks wore and used through the decades. I'm not really a big movie fan, but if it was engaging and well done I can enjoy it regardless of when it was produced. Cool topic! Do you find this valuable? |

Yea the new remake of "Night Stalker" WAS pretty lame. I loved Darrin McGavin and Simon Oakland. Poor Simon always had a burning stomach!!!!! Does anyone remember "Simon's Sanctorum"? The host was a maniacal looking man named Simon who hosted a horror movie each week. He was always talking to spiders and calling them beloved, or diving into a bubbling pot of slime or something. Good show. Scooby Doo is still a fave. Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, Brady Bunch. Do you find this valuable? |
